Yeah, this is going to last as much as Cap's "deep undercover" Hydra recruitment.
Also, it's pretty funny to watch all these ideologues who've never picked up a comic book in their lives virtue signal each other about how the hordes of male white nerds are going to explode, when it's clear they don't know what they're talking about, since the character of Rescue has been around for a while with nobody making a fuss about it, and she even appeared on the third Iron Man movie...sorta.

I haven't kept up with Civil War II, but from what I hear it's a giant mess and they're probably retconning it out of the main 616 continuity as soon as the storyline is done. Not that there's anything wrong with a Riri's identity, mind you, other than being redundant since Iron Man has already been replaced by a woman (Pepper) and a black man (Rhodey) before. And you know, there's legacy characters of pretty much all the Superheroes on both Marvel and DC, such as Falcon taking over Captain America, Miles Morales as Spiderman, that girl Hawkeye, as well as every single identity of Hank Pym, just to name a few. Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) is a legacy character of a Kree superhero who gave her his powers, and when she finally took his name, she passed the Miss Marvel moniker she'd used for years to a new character.
This is just a sensationalist headline designed to sell issues, which purposefully omits the full story, like the time "Thor became a woman", or when "Green Lantern was gay". Like KK said, in the end it's all just going to revert to the status quo, as comics always do.
